Synosis:
-Ruling Empress Wu Zetian planned to get rid of the crown prince during her old age. But her plan failed, so she had to give the crown to Li Xian, Emperor Zhongzong. Maid Meng Fan and maid Meng Fu were involved in all this. They experienced and witnessed the cruel fight for power in the palace.
-Luckily, with the help from eunuch Ma, Meng Fan survived in the cautious life in the palace.
-Empress Wei wanted to be the ruling empress and interfered with the affairs of the palace. Wu Sansi was in her good graces. So the palace was in chaos.
-Meng Fan got acquainted with Shangguan Wan'er. Meng felt it's very tough to survive in the palace. Princess An Le also wanted to become the ruling empress. An Le made use of Meng Fu and worked with Empress Wei to unthrone the crown prince Li Chongjun.
-Princess Taiping sent Meng Fan to get in touch with Prince Li Longji. Gradually they had affection for each other. To help Li Longji, Meng Fan agreed to become the concubine of Emperor Zhongzong. Meng disclosed the ambition of Empress Wei and Princess An Le.
-Empress Wei and Princess An Le ganged up to feed Emperor Zhongzong with poison. Zhongzong knew their tricks, but he still drank the poison. Crown Prince Li Chongmao took the throne. Empress Wei became the empress dowager. And she was the person who ruled the palace.
-Meng Fan bought over the six divisions of the palace by promising not to kill Meng Fu and Princess An Le. Then Meng Fan helped Li Longji to stage a coup. After they succeeded with the coup, Meng Fu and Princess An Le were killed and Shangguan Wan'er were executed.
-Late mid-night, Li Longji watched Meng Fan leaving with memorial tablet of Meng Fu and An Le.
